5 ways to shift your mindset when you’re feeling stuck
✨ Mindset ✨
Don’t hate me for saying this: Was it really a bad day? Or was it a bad five minutes that you milked all day?
Annoying, right? But that quote has helped me a lot over the years so I wanted to share this with you too. 🥰
Here are 5 suggestions for what you can do when you feel stuck in a negative loop of thoughts.
But first, remember this: the brain doesn’t want to waste energy so it often feels resistance to do anything that requires an effort – which is why it can be so hard to shift our mindset – even though it’s good for us!
But here’s the good news: the more you do something – the easier it gets. 🤩
How to shift your mindset
1) Shift your focus Get out of your head and into your body. Breathe, bring your awareness into the sensations in your body, feel the connection between your feet and the floor.
2) Move your body Physical activity is a natural mood booster. My favourite is 10 minutes of Bollywood dancing, pagal (crazy) style – I do it almost every day – even when I don’t feel like it and it’s so energizing! And learning a new choreography is a great exercise for the brain!
3) Practice gratitude Take a moment and write down things you’re grateful for – and make this a daily practice. (There’s science backing this up btw.)
4) Spend time in nature Even if it’s just 20 minutes in a local park.
5) Connect with friends Reach out for support. Sharing your feelings can give us new perspectives. (I’m always just a DM away if you want a hug!) 💗
…and you know what? Sometimes NOT doing anything can be what you need the most. Do a yoga nidra. Or take a nap. 🙂 Pause, reset. How about this: Maybe there’s nothing WRONG with you? Maybe you’re just exhausted?
